Campaign 2011

We introduced a new method into the survey: in cooperation with the Institut für Geoinformatik of the Westfalen Wilhelms University a program precisely suited to our needs was developed for a GIS-based databank, allowing us to enter all data (including photographs and sketches made in the field) using a small, hand-held computer. In addition to the survey we could document the architecture of the structures at Umm Ruweim 1.

Funding: Heinz Maier Leibnitz Prize of the German Research Foundation (DFG); Foundation for the Preservation of Culture, Federal Foreign Office
