The initial campaign in the field lasting one month was intended to clarify whether Wadi Abu Dom, which opens near the important center of Sanam, was used as a trade route in antiquity. We could explore the immediate vicinity of Sanam and gain a first impression of the topography and determine the various categories of surviving remains. Already in this first season we could confirm traces from the Paleolithic through the Neolithic and into the Christian Middle Ages.
