With the initiation of the DFG project, longer campaigns with more personnel were possible, speeding up the progress of the survey. It seems that the post-Meroitic Period (4th – 6th centuries AD) in particular and the Medieval Christian Period are present in the traces visible on the surface. At a favorable location in the lower Wadi Abu Dom – nowadays like an oasis, with farming – lie the stone structures of Umm Ruweim, Quweib and Umm Kafour. Geophysical exploration brought additional structures to light that are today no longer visible on the surface. Furthermore, the architecture at Quweib and Umm Khafour could be documented.
